Apple releases Mac OS 10.9.1, fixing a host of problems

A little less than two months after its initial launch, Apple released an update to the latest version of the Mac OS that fixes a number of problems users have been reporting. Apple’s Mail app, which has been at the center of a number of complaints since Apple launched the new OS in October, received special attention in this release.
For Gmail users who have been holding out on Apple’s new OS because of problems that Mail had with Google’s email service, it seems like 10.9.1 should put those to rest.
As always, it’s strongly recommended that users back up their data before updating, just in case something happens to go sideways. That said, this seems like a fairly minor update (it only clocks in around 243 MB on my MacBook Pro), and shouldn’t cause that much trouble.
